Ben Wolkon
Ben is a Partner at MUUS Climate Partners responsible for sourcing, due diligence, deal execution, and ongoing support of portfolio companies. Since joining in 2016 as Manager of Sustainable Investments, Ben worked to assemble MUUS’s portfolio of early- and growth-stage companies driving the transition to a zero-emissions economy.
Ben completed his undergraduate studies at Brown University and earned an MBA at MIT Sloan School of Management. He started working on solar projects during his college years and has been hooked on climate and energy issues ever since. As a graduate student, his focus was at the nexus of climate change, technology, entrepreneurship, and finance. He remains actively and proudly involved with the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative as an alum.
Ben started his career as an independent commercial and utility-scale solar developer in New England. This experience afforded him a front row seat to the challenges that growing clean energy companies face, such as hurdles to financing, switching costs, as well as skepticism and indifference around decarbonizing. His experiences created a unique perspective on how to make a business case for eliminating emissions and attract more capital to sustainable solutions.
When Ben isn’t working on climate, he’s an avid piano player, occasionally performing at bars and jazz clubs. He enjoys traveling to places where he can get in touch with nature and advocating to make New York City greener and more biker-friendly. Ben is a member of the Climate Pathways Project, a collaboration of MIT faculty and alumni to teach climate solution simulation modeling to business and government leaders.
